Desktop trading journal

Know why you win.
Know why you lose.

Trader's Journal logs every trade and works out your real win rate, your average winning trade, and your average losing trade — so one bad trade doesn't hide as a rounding error until it's wiped out a month of good ones.

The size of your wins and losses, not just the count

A 50% win rate can still lose money if your average loss is bigger than your average win. Trader's Journal keeps both numbers in front of you.

Report statistics

Win rate, average winning trade, average losing trade — recalculated the moment you add a trade, from your own numbers only.

▤

Relative volume & volume

See how your results break down by the day's relative volume and by raw share volume, pulled from live market data.

◔

Float & short interest

Look up float size, float percentage, short interest, and days to cover for any symbol already in your log.

⤓

Local & private

Your journal is a file on your own computer, with one automatic backup a day and the last 60 kept.

Windows & Mac

One program built for both. Windows 10/11 and Apple Silicon Macs are supported today.

"One big loser can wipe out ten good winners — I needed a journal that showed me that, not just a running total."
— built by an independent equities trader

Trader's Journal was built for one trader's own desk first: a place to log every trade, see the win rate next to the size of each win and loss, and check the market context — relative volume, float, short interest — without switching between five tabs.

It's shared here as-is, free to try. Opening it needs no account: it starts in demo mode with sample data so you can look around before you decide to log your own trades.
